CDLC

Yes, it sounds something like the SDLC(for those of you who are away from
software, for good, its Software Development Life Cycle). CDLC is a self
coined term meaning "Chapati Development Life Cycle".
Today being 2nd (or 3rd) time when i practiced making chapatis aka roti's
aka fulka’s,partly in order to help my mum who has an injured finger
and partly for the fun of it.

First things first making chapati's is not at all difficult and like most of the
things it gets better with practice. In not more than 10 minutes in totality
i learned how to make a Chapati and a namak mirch parantha.
Wow, its quite an achievement for me.

Things that I learned in the process.

1) Making something yourself gives a unique sort of satisfaction.
2) You get to know more about the things that you have been taking granted for long, things that run in the background
3) Preparing a chapatti, Preparing tasty Chapati and Preparing a beautiful Chapati are three different things.

Trivia:
Chapati is now a word in dictionary

Pics i took some time back....

Bhaiya please green light kar do...

Do you often find yoursef running late for a meeting or a party or perhaps
a movie, driving like a Ghost Rider only to find yourself getting
stuck at that crucial traffic signal simply because some bulb chooses to
go RED and not GREEN ??..If yes, then chance are that like everyone
else you might find yourself uttering curses and praying for those lights
to flip colours instantaneously( by magic perhaps), but then magic doesn't
happen right? and you end up sitting/waiting there feeling helpless and hapless..

As far as my answer to that is concerned, it would be an emphatic YES,
yes it happens quite often to me and so to say it happened today only
and that's why i am writing this..

What happend today was quite an unusual thing, unusual to the extent of being
unbelievable for some..

Scene 1: Rushing from greenpark at 7 Pm for PVR Saket(had a show at 7:10)

Scene 2: Waiting at IIT Redlight in a friend's car, telling them how these traffic
signals are manually controlled during peak traffic hours.

Enter a random thought: Someone tell that traffic policeman to turn the lights on our side green

Scene 3: I getting out of the car and running towards the traffic policman and...

"Bhaiya hum log movie ke show ke liye late ho rahe hain, please humari light ko green kar do".

In less than a split second that guy acknowledged my request and granted my wish. Wow..

Scene 4: I rushing back to our car and finding that the light has already changed its colour to Orange/Yellow/Amber.

Scene 5: Us crossing that red light and laughing our asses out thinking about what we just did :)

Well you don't really expect some one to ask for such a thing and moreover someone( a POLICEMAN at that) doing such a thing.

But then things happen when they ought to happen..

Trivia:

1) The social engineered traffic signal saved a couple of minutes and saw us reaching
almost on time for the show
2) I lost 85% of this post as i pressed some key and was not saving it while writing.
3) After this my comp mysteriously restarted twice, making me re-write few lines
4) All in all it took me more than 1.5 hours to write this post..GOSH

My Unbridled Pain

What follows are some feelings that i had some time back which came out in form of  a short poem, mostly its something bad/sad that makes me write...

Written during my stay in g'gaon last year...

Sat down alone, to scribble again.
Vying to subside, my unbridled pain..

Intermittent waves of sadness, are driving me insane.
Forever trying to analyse , but always ending in vain..

Wondering why only on me, does it always rain.
Still not to sure, if it's a boom or a bane.

Hoping to figure out one day, what he was trying to attain.
Dragging my life, with traces of hope that remain

Nothing much has changed yet, i can still relate as much to these lines as i did when i wrote 'em..

(KK + PK ) * SE

For those of you who are not familiar with the acronym PKSE, it stands for Pyar Ke Side Effects(yes, title of that Mallika, Rahul Bose flick) and if you dont know what the hindi word "Pyar" means than....

I love this phrase and off late i've vicariously felt quite a few these EFFECTS especially the Post Pyar Effects , its like those intermittent afterwaves of tremor that keep coming back after an earthquake and squash the residuum of whatevers left(Hope included). More on it later..

Happened to attend a lavish corporate bash yesternight and what follows are some of the details

First things first, Kay Kay (the singer) rocks and rocks damn good. It was the first time that I saw him perform live and it was so to say truly amazing. A possible reason being the sheer number of hits he has given...Less than 5 seconds after he started the opening song "Yaaron" almost everyone knew that they were in for some real melodious treat. One after the other the Songs kept pouring and all were drenched down to their hearts.

"Tu Aashiqui Hai", "Tadap Tadap Ke","Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai", "Pal","Awarapan Banjarapan","O Humdum" he sang 'em all and i believe each one of them did its' share of killings...Off all the songs that he sang a few that seemed to come deeper from his heart were "Awarapan" and "Tadap Tadap"..The crowd went crazy with girls swooning to just get a
Hand Shake or two. It was in most senses the stuff great music concerts are made of..

The party saw me meeting old pals, having a few cocktails, hypontized by the music and dancing my body off..For a minute I thought about the power that music has and the emotions
(to various extents) that it can generate in almost no time. Its like you listen to any meaningful song(HINDI particularly) and you'll find a line or two atleast to which you can correlate and they'll be sufficient to entrance you and take you to a different plane of thought n feelings alltogether.

Post show it was time to catch up on friends and happenings with/around them. Had late night conversations about lots of things, most of 'em can be labelled as PKSE.
That's how another night out came to an end and here i am making a note in my NOTEBOOK for some future nostalgic reference.

Kahan Kise Ke Liye Hai Mumkin
Sab Ke Liye Ek Sa Hona
Kahan Kise Ke Liye Hai Mumkin
Sab Ke Liye Ek Sa Hona
Thoda Sa Dil Mera Bura Hai
Thoda Bhala Hai Seene Mein
Awaarapaan Banjarapaan
Ek Hala Hai Sine Mein

Afterwave: I Don't think there's such a word but then that's how words are coined right ? :)

The Pursuit of Happyness

Director: Gabriele Muccino
Cast: Will Smith, Jaden Smith & Thandie Newton

This part of my life, this tiny part of my life is called "writing movie reviews"

Christopher Paul Gardner (born February 9, 1954 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is a self-made millionaire, entrepreneur, motivational speaker and philanthropist.
--Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The movie is inspired by a book with the same name authored by Chris himself and is about
his life and his struggle(in early 1980's) with marital life, career and homelessness while raising
his toddler son. As it happenes most of the times, the movie adaptation of a book
tends to miss out on some vital aspects of the story on various pretexts, here also the movie
doesn't refer at all (sparring a dialogue when he refer's about not knowing his father)
to Chris's life before his marriage.

First close up shot of Chris Gardner(Will Smith) drops a hint about the tone of the
movie followed shortly by, a beautifully sequence( in which he feels quite left out on seeing a crowd of happy passerby's), that makes the tone more apparent. Of all the actors the one
that stood out for me was cute li'l Christopher, who apart from acting beautifully made audience
have their share of laughter. Will did his job good enough to be nomitated for the
Best Actor's Award at the Oscars. The movie picks up slowly and continues to do so till the very end with getting Painfully Slow for a good 10 minutes. The film has some intermittent
beautiful and touching scenes. Particulary touchy one's being "The one in which Chris and his son spend there night in a restroom","when there reach a Flophouse only to find a long queue"
and "being thrown out of the motel".

The soapy background score, witty yet meaningful dialogues and nice direction work together
to make the movie worth watching.

Memorable Dialogue's:

"You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can't do it. You want something? Go get it. Period"

Martin Frohm: What would you say if man walked in here with no shirt, and I hired him? What would you say?
Christopher Gardner: He must have had on some really nice pants.

"Maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue. And maybe we can actually never have it no matter what."

Trivia:
The spelling of happiness came from the daycare center Gardner attended as a child, where the word was misspelled with a “y”.
The expression "pursuit of happiness" was coined by Dr. Samuel Johnson in his 1759 novel Rasselas.
"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is one of the most famous phrases in the United States Declaration of Independence.

Waking Life

"The idea is to remain in a state of constant departure while always arriving.
Saves on introductions and good-byes"

"It’s like you come onto this planet with a crayon box. Now, you may get the 8-pack, you may get the 16-pack. But it’s all in what you do with the crayons, the colors that you’re given. And don’t worry about drawing within the lines or coloring outside the lines. I say color outside the lines. You know what I mean? Color right off the page. Don’t box me in."

Above mentioned lines come straight from the script of "Waking Life", one of the movies that beckon you and without realising you are lost in 'em (or with 'em). Written and Directed by Richard Linklater, Waking Life is the kinda movie that makes me(atleast) say WOW out loud, partly maybe because its about the thing that i am quite passionate about, yes if you are observant enough its TALKING.

Mostly its about the young protagonist in a dreamy state conversing with people from different walks of life and some random people talking randomly about anything from Information Revolution to Collective Memory, Free will to Evolution and much much more..

This is just the kind of Cinema(I am in love with this word) that gets your brain cells working overtime, the way mine are right now...If you are in a habbit of thinking then chances are that you might find a discussion or two on some familiar topics. This being perhaps the only movie ever, that i watched in both directions, going back again and again to some mind-expanding dialogue or the other from the beginning right till the end.

"I’m afraid we’re losing the real virtues of living life passionately, sense of taking responsibility for who you are, the ability to make something of yourself and feeling good about life"

"
In short, I think the message here is that we should never simply write ourselves off and see ourselves as the victim of various forces. It’s always our decision who we are."

So if you are one of those compulsive thinkers or one of those who are into experimental cinema or someone having a high curiosity index( a self coined term) or someone who found the above written prate intriguing, then you know where to go from here.

Thanks Linklater for this Intellectual Coming....
